My goal has always been to be popular; I’m in the 9th grade and I am currently one of the popular girls. Popularity isn’t coming with all the perks I had in mind? I thought my relationship would boom because now that I’m popular my boyfriend would have better benifits. Well its kind of all turned around on me. I have suspicions that my boyfriend is actually cheating on me.. I haven’t done anything wrong or different and I actually feel like I couldn’t be any better of a girlfriend. We were in “love” about 7 months into our relationship. The honeymoon stages are quickly ending and something has started to change. He suddenly is too busy with homework all the time and is very irritable. Maybe it’s just a guy thing? They must all be like this, I don’t know. I am a first timer to the love game and he is much more experienced at dating than I. Things have started getting fishy when girls I have never talked to will come up to me and tell me my boyfriend is “talking” to other girls. What does this mean Sarah?

- Broken Hearted

Broken Hearted- This age is hard on us women. We are much more mature and feel like looking for love when the boys we are with are simply fulfilling their heart for the moment. Instead of trying to ignore those girls coming up to you spreading rumors about your boyfriend confront him. Because from my past experience putting things like that in the back of your head and trying to ignore it all the time just makes it harder on yourself. Maybe after confronting your boyfriend he doesn’t give you the answer you wanted to hear .. it might be for the better that you at least know.

I always hear people say my name in the hallway; does that mean they are talking about me? To be honest I sorta get excited! Sometimes I just think they are just talking about how freakishly tall I am and how I have no chance with any guy. “She isn’t even pretty”, “All she wears is athletic clothes”, “Does she really think she has a chance to hang with Us (the popular crowd at my school)?” But I always tell myself, at least I play varsity in every sport, right? I try to make myself feel better all the time, that little escape from reality… “I think I’m pretty…and athletic but why don’t the popular girls accept me?

-The Tall Giraffe

Tall Giraffe- Don’t be consumed about what other people say abut you! Sometimes I see that its better if we just close our ears and ignore all that nonsense. People will always talk and most of the things girls say about each other are very harsh. Girls talk trash on other girls to make themselves feel better about their own insecurities. You are beautiful. You were made to be the person that your creator wanted you to be! In the words of Lady GaGa, ” You were born this way!” Next time you hear those girls talking about how “freakishly” tall you are ignore their snide comment and start singing lyrics from Lady GaGa’s Born this way. That will get them every time! But to get serious again. Bitches will always be bitches.. It’s just how you deal with them! Popularity isn’t everything although it might seem that way right now. Take these girls as a grain of sand in the huge sand box of life. You must love yourself first before anyone else can love you for you.

All of 8th grade I have been soul searching. Who am I and who would want to “love” me? I constantly think of settling for some guy, maybe not as tall, handsome, popular, or up to par with my prince charming checklist. I feel like I couldn’t do that. Maybe then the popular crowd would then discard me as a human being if they saw me with some choir geek. So, I have put on my big girl panties on and jumped into the piranha infested waters. I decided I was going to go for my Jr. High’s price charming himself. He walks down the halls with confidence as he passes every girl in the hall, he knows they wanted him. His perfect smile, his clear skin, his “rockin” bod. He has it all, looks, status, and poise. The one downfall is that Iam not the only girl chasing after this middle school hunk. I am in line with about 15 other girls who were much prettier than I. In all honesty I have no chance, although that negative thought zips around in my head a million times a day I still have to at least try. I have started dressing cuter, wearing perfume (to get his attention, cause maybe if he didn’t notice me by seeing me walk by him in the hall – at least he will smell me). We have started passing notes in my English class; this is when I started to have hope. He was making an effort! Could he possibly like me?

-Young Lover

YOUNG LOVER, Young love is a beautiful thing. These years in your life are essential that you learn from relationships. You will have up’s and downs and if you found any guy HALF up to par with your standards in Jr High that would be a miracle! This guy probably does have a crush on you.. Boys at this age never concentrate on one thing for very long. So, I’m not going to predict that this lasts forever. But go for it! Learn, make mistakes, but be safe. Don’t guard your heart so much that no one is allowed in but don’t always let everyone in. Your heart is a sacred place. Jr High I was in the same shoes as you. Even though I thought I had found my Prince Charming I hadn’t. Maybe someday. But love is not rushed it’s cultivated, grown with care, and harvested.
